Thank you very much for visiting en.naoya.site/!

I’m the author, Naoya Sasaki.

On this page, I’ll talk a bit about why I write light novels in the first place.

Pleased to make your acquaintance m(_ _)m

It Started With a Case of Chuunibyou!

Back in middle school (grade 8), I got completely hooked on light novels, and that’s when I started writing.

In college, I skipped lectures, wrote light novels, submitted them to new-author contests, and got rejected over and over… that’s basically how I spent my days.

So I thought, “Fine, I’ll sell them myself!” I built a site and started selling my own works… and not a single one sold (ToT)

College was nothing but failures like that, so I really felt like I’d hit rock bottom. I even dropped out and became a part-time worker.

The pay was low, so I worked from morning to night and wrote at midnight. The strain caught up with me — within a few years my body gave out, I went back to my parents’ place, and basically turned into a NEET (^^;

From NEET to Published Author

Going home meant food, clothes, and shelter were sorted (mooching off my parents whole hog!), but being unemployed at 26 felt like a serious problem, so I started looking for work.

That’s how I ended up in web work (mostly site building). Turns out the site-making I’d done in college paid off (lol)

The web work went better than I’d expected — I even incorporated. But during that time I was way too busy to write any light novels…

So the urge to “write light novels” and “get published” kept smoldering inside me. Then, through my web work, I got to know publishing producer Okano Kinya. When I asked him about publishing, he advised, “Light novels are tough, but with your track record, Sasaki-san, a light-novel-style how-to book might work?” I drew up a proposal and somehow got it to publication.

That’s how “The 3-Minute Method That Instantly Eases the Pain of Studying” (Sowasha) was born. It’s basically a how-to-escape-NEET-life book (lol)

Later I also published “No-Brain Work Hacks That Knock Out Painful Tasks Fast” (Shuwa System), which packed in all the work techniques I’d built up from my web career.

Now Active on the Web!

So I’d made it to publication, but the itch to “write more light novels” was still there. Then Kindle arrived — the dawn of ebooks.

And I thought, “Right, I’ll sell them myself after all!” The exact same idea I’d had in college (lol)

I quit my web job, took out a loan, and dove into Kindle… only to fail miserably. Cash ran out in six months…

After that, I had to work like a draft horse to pay back the debt (ToT)

A few years later I finally cleared the debt. Feeling like I’d just been released back into the world… I’m still pouring my energy into ebooks and writing on the web (lol)

If you can enjoy a light novel written by someone like me, I’d be truly happy!

P.S.

I post updates on X about writing progress, new releases, Kakuyomu and note updates, and so on.

If you’d like to keep up with what I’m working on, I’d love to have you follow me(^^)
